853 Scholarship History The Ford J. Gurrell Memorial Scholarship was created in 1952 as a memorial to our Brother who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War II. The scholarship provided for the annual award of a $250.00 dollar scholarship to a deserving student of the West Chester High School or St. Agnes High School. Although we had furnished quarters for Troop #68 of the Boy Scouts of America since 1942, we became their Official Sponsor in 1950. The Student Aid Program came to the Southeast District in 1937 and our Lodge was one of the first to subscribe to this fund. |
